Number changes

Darron Thomas has changed his number to #5 and Josh Huff changed his number to #1. Josh huff will no longer look like JWill anymore thank god. Thomas has decided on going to #5 because that was his high-school number. There are some other players that switched as well. follow the link.  http://www.goducks.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=3378&SPID=233&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=500&SORT_ORDER=1&Q_SEASON=2011&PRINTABLE_PAGE=

Maehl Breaks Combine Record

Maehl broke the three cone drill combine record Sunday. Helping him establish himself, especially since he is not all that fast. Maehl looks to be a late draft pick. I believe he will go round 6. Scouts at the combine really like Maehl for his smooth route running and how he catches everything. Let's hope the Maehl man goes far.
In other combine news, Oregon States' Stephen Paea broke the combine bench record with 49 reps of 225. The guy that held the previous record played 4 years in the NFL, so hopefully Paea does better with this record.

12 K's

A left-handed sophomore Christian Jones struckout 12 in Sunday's game against the Gaels. The Ducks won 3-2. I just realized that Jones happens to sit in front of me in my math class. Who'd of thunk it?
Oregon's next game is on Tuesday night against the Portland Pilots in a one game series.

Combine

Jeff Maehl is at the combine today. All I have for news right now is that Jeff Maehl ran a 4.62  40 yard dash. Jaquizz Rodgers came into the combine at 5 foot 6 inches and he had to run an impressive 40 yard dash... and he failed. He ran a 4.64, the Maehl man came through in the clutch. Let's hope Maehl and other Ducks impress at the combine.

Stanford Game

Ducks lost a tough one yesterday. Stanford controlled the game all the way through. Stanford shot the ball very well and played lights out defense on Catron and Singler. Some uniform news is that Oregon brought out gray uniforms yesterday. Gotta say I really liked the look of them.

Shutout

Oregon Ducks shut out the Gaels Saturday with the help of Madison Boer. Ducks won 3-0. Again Boer pitched lights out. Look for him to win Pac-10 pitcher of the week for the second week in a row.

Ducks Late Game Collapse

Again the Ducks let the game slip away. The Ducks had control of the game tonight through eight innings until a late comeback gave St. Mary's the win 3-2 over the Ducks in the home debut. Tyler Anderson has yet to get a win on the season. The Ducks are playing mediocre baseball right now and the bullpen sure isn't helping them out.

KC Serna

KC Serna is still suspended for this weekend series against St. Mary's.

First Home Game

Ducks will be playing their first home game of the season tonight at 5 pm at PK Park against St. Mary's. Look for Tyler Anderson to dominate. Ducks win 5-0.

Bears comeback

The ducks again lost to cal last night. I do not know why the ducks just can't beat cal. Oregon shot themselves in the foot too many times by turning the ball over. The ducks blew a 16 point lead. Give credit to cal's three point shooting and 2-3 zone on defense. Oregon's Nared played really well with some great put backs. Carton on the other hand looked lazy but the Ducks will pull it together against Stanford on Saturday.

Home Sweet Home

Oregon Ducks baseball is coming home. The Ducks will be playing a series against St. Mary's starting Friday at 5:00 pm at PK Park. It's a three game series with St. Mary's. The Ducks will follow this series with one game against the Portland Pilots on Tuesday, March 5th at 5:00 pm at PK Park.

Split in Hawai'i

Ducks pulled out another win last night. Winning 4-3. Starting pitcher Alex Keudell pitched five innings for the win. Star of the game was Aaron Jones who went 2-5 and hit a home-run. The series is over. The Ducks split with Hawai'i. Going into the series, the Ducks were ranked #14, but now they are ranked #15. There is a lot to look forward to for this season. The Ducks are going to be a very good and consistent team. Go Ducks!

Movin' On Up

Oregon Men's Basketball this weekend blew out the pathetic Beavers. The Beavers could not drive on the Ducks to save their lives; that's especially sad to see when the Ducks don't really have a dominant big guy down low. Ducks were popping threes all night. The top players for the Ducks were Jay-R Strowbridge, and Malcolm Armstead. Ducks have improved to fourth place in the Pac-10....Wow! Hell yeah Ducks, keep up the great work. Dana Altman should be coach of the year by a long shot.

Series in Hawai'i

Ducks got their first win of the season yesterday against Hawai'i. This is after giving up the lead two nights in a row. Madison Boer threw a one-hitter;he was later pulled and Kellen Moen came in for relief. The Ducks bats were also in a groove. The Ducks won 4-0. They are now 1-2 on the season. Let's see if the Ducks can even the series tonight.

Gray Glove Rule Is Out

The NCAA has taken out the rule for college teams to wear only gray gloves. This is going to open the doors even more for the Ducks. Now the Ducks can have team colored gloves... Go Crazy Folks. Ducks are going to  look even more in style this fall than usual.

Schedule Update

Oregon officially added Missouri State to the 2011 schedule. A little depressing, but at least they have LSU on the schedule. MSU game is scheduled for September 17th at Autzen Stadium.

Breaking News

Dontae Williams has left Oregon. Considering the lack of roster openings for him. It seems to be a smart decision. With the big recruit of Deanthony Thomas, and Tra Carson coming in, it seemed bleak for him to get some playing time. There is also a rumor that two other offensive players are leaving too. Probably due to the same reason as Dontae Williams. This breaking news was notified to me by Scott McCann.

East Coast Bias

Today ESPN.com posted an article about the Big 12 not having a conference championship game anymore... and also losing two teams. This should hurt the Big 12 tremendously, but with all the east coast bias in college football, those teams probably will be able to get by without any harm. I have heard talks about the Pac 12 championship game and the talks have sounded like people don't respect the west coast still. People have said that Oregon has to run the table to go the national title again. I disagree. I believe that if the Ducks lose to LSU early in the season it is alright. All that matters is to win the conference title game and have one loss or less. That's the whole purpose of the conference title game; to give the strength to a teams schedule. The Pac 10 round robin play, where everybody plays everybody, was a perfect conference set up. The Pac 10 though has to "modify" in order to have a chance at contending for a national title every year; thanks east coast bias. So what do they do? Well add two more teams and have a conference title game. What does the east coast think of that? The east coast still won't give credit to the west. I'm tired of all this bullcrap. No matter what the Pac 12 does, it will never be good enough. Let's just face it. If the Ducks would've won the title last year, SEC would have made some god dang excuse. I hope the top teams in the Pac 12 play the SEC top teams one year just to show that "hey we can play some football out here too." I think teams like Stanford, USC, and Oregon have shown that they can compete with any team on any day. Remember that undersized Oregon team that had the courage to play the big boy Auburn team? Yeah, Auburn was bigger, but if I remember correctly that was one hell of a game. So it just goes to prove that out here on the west...we can play too.

Spring Practice

Spring Football is almost here! I will try to attend all of the practices that are open to the public this year. So I will have analysis of the practices here. Well not too much because I don't want to give away any secrets haha ;)
I will also be attending the Spring game that is set for April 30th. Should be a very fun spring. GO DUCKS!

Road To Omaha

The road to Omaha starts on Friday. The Oregon Ducks will be taking on the Hawai'i Warriors in Honolulu, Hawai'i at 8:30 pm pacific time. Look for the Ducks to do what they do best... manufacturing runs. A whole lot of singles and some doubles; and if the Ducks are lucky maybe a homerun thrown in there. I believe the Ducks can pull a win out because Tyler Anderson is getting the start; and we all know how dominant Anderson can be.
My prediction: Oregon 4 Hawai'i 2
Again as I posted earlier, K.C. Serna is suspended for the series; due to violation of team rules. Keep watching the blog for more baseball news and analysis.

Basketball Uniforms

The new, classy, simplistic uniforms that the Ducks are wearing are refreshing. The Uniforms are an homage to Ernie Kent's elite eight team with: Freddy Jones, Luke Ridinour, Luke Jackson. The only complaint that I would have about these uniforms would be the lack of the yellow alternate home jersey. I have grown so accustomed to the Ducks wearing yellow at home, kind of how the Lakers do. But if the yellow jerseys do not come, it's no big deal because I would take these uniforms in an instant.

Uniforms

I know I know we are 200 days away from the Cowboy Classic, Oregon vs. LSU; but I have to make some sort of prediction. It's nothing to do with the actual game but I am predicting Pro Combat uniforms for the Ducks. Probably not going to happen, but that's alright.
The next set of uniforms should come after this season, we might even see a sneak preview in the civil war game this year. Look for the uniforms to be even classier than the ones that are currently being worn. Ducks might even go with a simplest look that the basketball team is wearing. I hope their will be more green and yellow involved. Hey maybe even a decent yellow helmet can be used. Let's cross our fingers anyways, but we don't have to worry about that for a while.
Go Ducks!

More schedule news

We are 200 days away from the LSU game in Dallas,Texas. In other news the Ducks haven't admitted to having Missouri State on their schedule. I hope they don't because Ducks are already playing Nevada. So hopefully a more decent team will be put on the schedule. In my guess, Oregon will end up playing Missouri State because Missouri State already has it on their schedule.

Jeff Maehl

Let's hope that Jeff will be able to have a career in the NFL. Here are some of his great highlights in 2010-2011

Jeff Maehl 2010 Highlights

Football Schedule

The Oregon-Cal football game has been selected to be on ESPN. The game is set to play at 6 pm on October 6th at Autzen Stadium.

Upcoming Events

Soon to take place is the Civil War at Matthew Knight Arena on Saturday, February 20th for the men's basketball team. The Ducks look to keep the magic going against the hated Beavers this weekend. Seems to be another great game just like the one in Corvallis.
In other news, the baseball team is getting ready to start off the season against Hawai'i on Friday, February 18th. Shortstop K.C. Serna will be suspended for that series for violating team rules.
Hope this weekend brings a series win for the baseball team and a clean sweep for the basketball team.
Go Ducks!
